Is The Sleepy Hollow Experience scary or terrifying?
While there is no blood and gore, the production is not for the faint-of-heart. Serenbe audience members describe the production as “scary, thrilling and haunting.”
Is The Sleepy Hollow Experience a family-friendly production?
Yes, if your children are not afraid of the dark! However, the production is not recommended for children under the age of 10.
What happens if it rains the night of our performance?
The Sleepy Hollow Experience is always performed rain or shine. Please know the outdoor production will be performed in light rain. If a rainout is expected, we will present a modified version of the production in the Stephen M. Brewer Theater at Old Sturbridge Village. There are absolutely no refunds or exchanges.
What should I wear?
The average evening temperature in October is 45 degrees, so dress warmly as the entire production takes place outdoors. Sweatshirts, stadium blankets and hand warmers will be available for purchase at the event.
How to a get in and where do I park?
The entrance to The Sleepy Hollow Experience is located at the Old Sturbridge Village's museum education center, so note that you cannot enter through the Village's main entrance. Once you leave Route 20, follow signs to Sleepy Hollow parking. For more details on directions, download the map below.
Do you serve alcohol?
Absolutely, so bring your photo ID! Beer, wine and cocktails will be available before the show and during intermission. Guests are welcome to enjoy their libations during the performance. Just remember, it's important to always designate a driver!
Should I have dinner before coming to the show?
An hour and a half before show time, guests can enjoy hot soups and chowder, snacks and sweets. Additionally, sweets (and libations) will be available during intermission.
Are there restrooms available before or during the productions?
Yes, handicap-accessible portable restrooms will be available at Ichabod’s Tavern, as well as during intermission.
What can I bring with me to the show?
Guests are not permitted to bring bags, backpacks, fanny packs or outside food or drinks into the Village. Only small purses will be permitted.

Why is The Sleepy Hollow Experience coming to Old Sturbridge Village?
Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was first published in 1820 – exactly the time period (1790 – 1840) Old Sturbridge Village represents. By 1830, many New England families were reading Irving’s haunting tale of Ichabod Crane’s pursuit of Katrina Van Tussel.
